People often evaluate their relationships by counting them. A more useful question is what different roles those relationships play, and whether any important role is currently unfilled.

Some relationships offer honesty when you are wrong. Some offer rest without demand. Some offer challenge, some offer history, some offer practical help, some offer perspective from outside your world, and some offer companionship in a shared pursuit.

No single person can hold all of these, and expecting one to is a common source of strain. The Seven Friends reflection invites you to map which roles are present in your life and which are missing.

The point is not to categorize people. It is to notice the shape of the ecosystem around you and to consider what one small step toward a missing role would look like.

Pause and Reflect

Which role in your relationship ecosystem is currently carrying more weight than it should?

Carry It Into Practice
